Monday is my new Tuesday!

So I really am starting to enjoy my new job that I will have over the summer. Sure the pay isn't fabulous and I am not using any of the skills I acquired through attaining a college degree, but I only work 6 hours a day, 4 days a week!!! I was offered a job through my mom's boss to be the receptionist for the High School Summer School Program, and because I am so super busy answering phones, documenting tardies, and logging confiscated electronics or male earrings, the day goes by SUPER fast!!

Today my parents left for Fredricksburg. We usually go as a family every summer, but tomorrow is their 25th wedding anniversary and that's where they wanted to go haha After all of the researching I did over Spring Break for them to actually go somewhere they had never been, they chose good ole Fredricksburg, Texas. It really is a neat little German town though and I suggest a visit at least once in your lifetime. They will be gone until Thursday so that leaves me to be Mommy/Wifey Heather haha My little brother is not that little (19) but you know how boys can be.. Nothing would get done if I didnt do it. I'll give him a little credit though-- the boy can cook and tonight he helped me make lasagna!! It's crazy how the only time we really cook and clean is when my parents aren't here. We should really try to work on that lol...

So after a long day of working, getting my nails done, working out, grocery shopping, cooking, and cleaning... IM OUT! Sweet Dreams :-)

Last Week of School, Texas Country, Sand and Surf

So my best friend Chantel was right.. She knew I would not post blogs very often haha I can't help that my life is pretty hectic and I forget to do things like this. Nonetheless, here I am once again!

Let's see .. what can we catch up on?.. School is finally OUT!! You have no idea how excited I am about this. And even though I have a summer job, I desperately needed a change of environment. The last week of school was super relaxing and fun and I even took one day off to drive to Nac and spend some time with Courtney! She didn't think I would actually do it, but Tuesday night (June 5th) I drove to Nacogdoches after school and went to see Randy Rogers and Wade Bowen with Court, Ashley, and Jenna. It definitely made me miss going to concerts all the time!! There's nothing like good country music, a beer or two, and your best friends!!

This past weekend Jenn and I decided to plan a trip to Galveston for the day and despite horrible traffic on the way there and a few jellyfish, it was a BLAST! I remember having fun in Galveston with my family when I was younger during the summer, but it's so much more fun when you're an adult haha It was Ethan's first time to really enjoy the sand and surf and it was so cute to see his reaction to the water!

Jenn, Jason, Adam, and Matt we had so much fun playing football, splashin' in the waves, and blaring music loud enough for the whole beach to hear. Afterwards, we went to Adam's house in Clear Lake and continued the fun in his pool :-) Here are some more pics from the day...

On another note, I finally got an interview with the school I student taught and subbed at today. We shall see how it goes.... Good Night!!!

It's Almost Someone's Birthday...

Hello All!! I hope everyone had a fantastic Easter weekend! I must say, mine was very busy, but I am so thankful for the amazing friends that came to visit me!! More on that later...

Saturday was Ethan's 1st Bday party and of course, I had to go!! The faces he made while he was eating cake for the first time were PRICELESS!! And the Elmo cupcakes were yummy!!

So on Friday my best friend Chantel flew in from Dallas! It was the first time we had seen each other really since January and it always amazes me how we pick up right where we left off. I'm sure it helps that we talk on the phone almost every night, but not many friendships could handle being long-distance like this, and our friendship has been that way almost the whole time we have been friends!!

Friday night Chantel and I had dinner with my parents and little brother and I almost got through the meal without being sung "Happy Birthday" to by the waiters, but of course, Chantel had to embarrass me lol

Saturday evening Courtney drove in from Nacogdoches!! Us 3 girls went to Olive Garden for BDay dinner #2 and man that place never gets old. Thankfully, there was no singing this time :-) but there was definitely some alcohol!!

Blame it on the a-a-a-alcohol!

After dinner and when our stomachs finally went back to their original size, we headed out to Red River for some good country music and good-lookin' cowboys!! This was the first time I had brought either one of them to RR and Court definitely loved it! She kept sayin' she felt like she was home :-)

Despite the fact that I had a "loser" moment and dropped my brand new cell phone in WATER, I had a blast catching up with these two BFF's of mine! I am so thankful to have friends like them in my life!! They definitely started off my birthday just right :-)

** On a side note, I would just like to state that today, I got paid for filling out job applications to other school districts... ALL DAY LONG! I really shouldn't complain about my life at the moment haha **

Since it is after midnight, it is officially Ethan's 1st bday!! I love going to a baby's first bday party just to see their reaction when they eat cake for the first time haha I still remember my brother getting yellow icing everywhere after attacking his Winnie the Pooh cake my mom made :-) Jennifer and Jason are such amazing parents to lil' Ethan and I can't wait to go to his party on Saturday!!

On another exciting note, I get to see Chantel today!!!!!! I haven't seen her in nearly 3 months!! Well unless you count the hour we hung out when she was in between flights a few weeks ago haha She may hate her job as a flight attendant, but I live vicariously through her as she takes all these trips to cool places around the country.

Anywho, she is flying in this afternoon and staying for the weekend since my birthday is NEXT WEEK! Courtney is also driving in from Nacogdoches on Saturday! I cannot wait to spend one night with the both of them since I miss them sooo super much! Hopefully Jenna and Gracie will come too :-)

My So-Called Life

So I have created this blog, not because I think my life is overly exciting or anything like that, but because 1) I simply need another way to vent about things haha 2) I feel my life is at a crossroads and may need some opinions and finally 3) so many of my closest friends do not live anywhere near me and due to the fact that our lives are crazy busy we may not get to talk to each other as often as we hope to :-(

Let's see.. Some important information...





1) I FINALLY graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University on December 13, 2008!!! It was so surreal! I just remember thinking to myself, "is it really time? Did I actually do this? What happens now?" haha Thankfully, my best friend Meagan sat in the row in front of me and was able to help me get through the most boring commencement speech of all time!!! Grr!


Meagan and I were each other's first friends at SFASU thanks to being assigned as roommates for Freshman Orientation and have remained the best of friends ever since!!!

2) 2009 started off with a bang as my best friend Chantel Wendel married her long-time love, Charles Ray, on January 3rd in Denton, TX!! After 6 years of dating it was about time!! lol I was so lucky to be chosen as her Maid of Honor and considering it was my first time to be in a wedding EVER it was exciting, sometimes stressful, and amazing!!!

3) Unfortunately, I was not able to find a job opportunity in the middle of the school year, so I have been substitute teaching at Wells Middle School in Houston, where I student-taught and attended middle school myself.

I sometimes question my career choice, but I know in the end, there is nothing else I see myself doing. As challenging as it is 98% of the time, I love those kids to death and think of them as my own at times.

I am so tired of subbing however, and am really ready to have my own classroom!! I am still applying for jobs and attending job fairs, so I hope something comes up soon!!!

4) I have received some UH-MAZING news recently!! My former roommate, and best friend, Brittany is expecting her first baby!!! I am so happy for her and her boyfriend, Cory, and can't wait to meet him or her!! The only sucky part is that they live in Sierra Vista, AZ and I haven't even seen her since August!! She is exactly 9 weeks preggo today and sick like a dog, but I know she is really excited and so am I!!

For some reason it will not let me upload her 8 week ultrasound pic, but I'll try again soon!!!
